Creating Your First Video
A detailed walkthrough of creating a video from scratch using the Workflow Builder.
Your First Video — Step by Step
This guide walks you through creating a complete video using the 5-step Workflow Builder in Pro mode. We'll create a short vertical TikTok ad as an example.
Note
Prerequisites: You need a brand workspace and a campaign before creating a video. See the Quick Start Guide if you haven't set these up yet.
Creating Your Video
- 1
Navigate to your campaign
Go to Brands > [Your Brand] > Campaigns > [Your Campaign]. Click 'New Video' to open the Workflow Builder. Switch to Pro mode with the toggle at the top right for the full 5-step editor.
- 2
Step 1: Choose format and layout
Pick a layout style (e.g., Selfie-Camera for an authentic TikTok feel), then select your aspect ratio (9:16 for TikTok/Reels), resolution, and duration. The layout determines the AI model, which constrains the format options.
- 3
Steps 2-3: Set up visual elements
Select a character — or explicitly choose 'None' — and optionally add product placement (Step 2), then choose a background environment (Step 3). Background has smart defaults if you want to move quickly.
- 4
Step 4: Write your script
Add scenes with visual descriptions and dialogue. Assign speakers if your video has multiple voices. Keep it short — most AI models generate 4-15 second clips.
- 5
Step 5: Audio
Configure the voice (language, delivery style, pacing) and background music with the volume mix — all in one step.
- 6
Generate your video
Click 'Generate' to submit your configuration to the AI model assigned to your layout. Progress appears in the Generations Rail on the right, and the finished video lands there — typically within 2-5 minutes.
Do
- Keep scripts concise — a few short sentences for a 8-15 second video
- Pick the aspect ratio for your primary platform first
- Use brand kit colors and fonts for consistency
- Preview your character selection before generating
Don't
- Skip the format or script steps — they're the foundation of your video
- Ignore platform-specific guidelines (duration, aspect ratio)
- Use too many text overlays — less is more in short-form
- Forget to check your credit balance before generating
Tip
Start with 720p and a budget model for your first draft to save credits. Once you're happy with the script and settings, switch to 1080p (or 4K on supported models) for the final render.
