The 5-Step Workflow Builder
An overview of scriptmotion's guided workflow — from format to generation.
What is the Workflow Builder?
The Workflow Builder is scriptmotion's guided 5-step process for creating AI videos. Instead of staring at a blank prompt box, you work through structured steps that cover every aspect of video creation — format, character & product, background & environment, script, and audio (voice and background music).
Tip
You don't need to configure every step. Format & Layout, a character choice (or an explicit 'None'), and a script are required — Background and Audio have intelligent defaults. The more you configure, the more control you have over the final output.
Easy Mode and Pro Mode
The editor has two views, switchable at any time with the Easy/Pro toggle at the top right. Easy mode puts everything on a single card: format pills, a script area, 'Add to your scene' tiles for character, product, and background, a music section, and the Generate button. Pro mode shows the full 5-step editor with a stepper in the top bar. Both modes edit the same video — switching is instant and never loses your work.
The 5 Steps at a Glance
| Step | Name | What You Configure | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Format & Layout | Layout style, AI model (Custom layout), aspect ratio, resolution, duration | Yes |
| 2 | Character & Product | On-screen presenter (or 'None'), product placement | Yes |
| 3 | Background & Environment | Background presets, AI-generated, uploaded, or solid/gradient | No |
| 4 | Concept & Script | Scenes, dialogue, speakers | Yes |
| 5 | Audio | Voice, pacing, language, background music, volume mix | No |
How Steps Connect
Steps are sequential but intelligent. The layout you pick in Step 1 determines the AI model, which constrains aspect ratio, resolution, and duration options. The character you select in Step 2 carries into the voice settings in Step 5 (Audio). Scene descriptions and dialogue from Step 4 are combined with everything else into the final generation prompt.
After You Generate
Generation runs in the background — a floating rail on the right side of the editor shows progress, and every completed generation for the video is listed there. Click a rail entry to open the video player, watch the result, and download it. You stay in the step editor the whole time, so you can tweak settings and generate again immediately.
Note
Your progress is saved automatically every few seconds as you work. If you close the browser and return later, your workflow state is preserved.
